CamShare

For a one-stop solution you could join CamShare, a web based matching service (for both car and cycle journeys) for everyone who lives, works and travels in and around Cambridgeshire. CamShare is managed by liftshare.co.uk and is funded by the Travel for Work Partnership and Cambridgeshire County Council.

Did you know that there are specific car sharing groups already set up for people working on Cambridge Science Park, Cambridge Business Park and Cambridge Regional College? What does this mean? It means you could find a car sharing match with somebody who works near you, making it even more convenient for you both.

Security is a top priority where CamShare can only be accessed by password and accounts may not be transferred or shared with any other party, temporarily or permanently. Liftshare Safety Procedure

Your organisation's IT system may see Camshare emails as spam, however in reality it could be an email from a potential car sharer making contact to car share. Here are some instructions you should sent to you IT dept to all Camshare contact emails to get through Camshare Access

Guaranteed Ride Home Policy

A common fear of potential car sharers is not being able to get home in the case of emergency, if an unplanned event happens (staying at work later) or being stranded at work because their ride had to unexpectantly leave. About 25% of potential car sharers said they would give car sharing a try if there was a policy in place which would guarentee they would get home at the end of the day.

By having a Guaranteed Ride Home policy in place, this will ease the fear for many people in car sharing. In the usual case, if someone cannot get a ride home with their car sharer or any other colleague, the organisation will pay for the person to take a taxi home.
