Commuters spending more than 2 hours travelling to and from work increases

29/11/2015

Picture
Research by the Trade Union Congress (TUC) has found that the number of commuters spending more than 2 hours travelling to and from work has increased by 72% over the past 10 years increasing from 1.7 million in 2004 to 3 million in 2014. The study also found that the number of people spending 3 hours or more commuting has risen by 75% over the last decade from 500,000 to 880,000.

Work Wise UK's Chief Executive Phil Flaxton sees the publication of these findings an ideal opportunity for employers to think about how it's employees travel to work and offer more flexible working practices such as encouraging employees to travel out of peak times, encouraging remote and agile working from home or satellite offices and using telephone/video conferencing.
