A recent survey conducted by the CTWA has highlighted the benefit to both employees and employers of staff cycling to work as part of the cycle to work scheme.
Nearly 90% of the participants of the survey believed their general fitness had improved, with 52% seeing some weight loss. 60% of those cyclists surveyed said that they got more done at work as a result of the way they commuted to work. Cycle to Work schemes can encourage novice cyclists and non-cyclists to try cycling to work and can contribute to employers commitment to employee health and well being. The initial ideas have been divided into two options; 'Do Maximum' and 'Do Something'. The proposed measures include extended and additional bus lanes and priority signalling for buses, segregated cycleways and improved footways. As well as requesting feedback on the proposed improvements drawn up by the City Deal, they would also welcome alternative ideas to improve bus, cycling and walking on these two routes. Project Officers will be at the Cambridge Science Park Innovation Centre on Tuesday 19th and Thursday 21st January 2016 between 12.30 - 2pm. These informal drop in sessions will be an opportunity to look at the proposals in more detail and discuss with the Project Officers. There will also be a number of informal drop-in events at venues in the Milton Road/Histon Road locality between the 12th and 26th January 2016. Initial consultation ends on Monday 15th February 2016.
