The Department for Transport has revealed how the £420 million announced in the Budget will be spent and it means an extra £6.6 million will go towards helping fight the campaign on potholes in Cambridgeshire.

Next year (2019-20), Cambridgeshire will get this money from the Local Highways and Integrated Transport Block funds, which will go towards repairing roads and investing in small safety, bus priority or walking and cycling schemes. For more information, please see here.

In order to keep our roads maintained, you need to help us by coming forward and reporting them using Highways online tool.

Have your say on Residents Parking in Cambridge

30/11/2018

Picture
People who live and work in the City have been invited to have their say on new residents’ parking plans in Cambridge. Stretten, York and Stourbridge are the three most recent areas in Cambridge to be open to public consultation on the potential introduction of a Residents’ Parking Scheme. These schemes will enable those who regularly find it difficult to park within a reasonable distance of their home to find a space. If schemes are supported by the majority of respondents then they will progress to the next stage which is a statutory consultation.The consultations was launched on 6 November and will run until Monday 17 December. For more information on the consultation, please see here.

Have your say on the Rural Travel Hub in Oakington

30/11/2018

Picture
A public consultation was launched this month on plans to provide new sustainable infrastructure to connect up Oakington with Cambridge and surrounding villages.

The Greater Cambridge Partnership (GCP) is consulting on a trial Rural Travel Hub in Oakington – it would be the first of its kind in the county and, if successful, could lead to a network of hubs across South Cambridgeshire. Rural Travel Hubs are small flexible transport interchanges at key locations in South Cambridgeshire, allowing more people to access sustainable transport networks. These hubs aim to reduce the levels of private car journeys between Cambridge and the surrounding villages by providing sustainable transport options and enabling connections between neighbouring villages and towns.

The GCP are currently consulting on a pilot Rural Travel Hub proposed for Oakington, adjacent to The Busway route and providing new links to connect the surrounding villages with public transport, cycling and walking routes. Have you say by completing the Rural Travel Hub survey by Monday 7 January 2019.

  •  Longstanton Park and Ride – 10 bikes are available as of July;
  •  Milton Park and Ride – 10 bikes are available as of October; and
  • Cambridge North Station – 20 bikes will be available from 7th December.

An alternative option to pick up an ebike and whizz through to work by avoiding being stuck in traffic and a great way to reduce stress. These bikes are free to those employees who work at the Cambridge Science Park, subscription companies on the Cambridge Business Park and St John's Innovation Centre. To book an ebike, see here.
